Fantasy RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has booted Final Fantasy XIII-2 off the summit of the U.K. All Format Charts following its debut on Friday.
The game, developed by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, is the first new IP to top the charts since Dead Island in September 2011. In addition, it’s also the first new RPG-based franchise to reach number one since Pokemon Red nearly 12 years ago.
Elsewhere, gory shoot-‘em-up The Darkness II enters at number three, while Metal Gear Solid HD Collection drops to four and FIFA 12 has a kick about at five.
Conspicuous by its absence is Soul Calibur V, which drops out of the Top Ten altogether after only one week.
