Ubisoft, the giant publisher behind Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, are currently in talks with Netflix for a new series. Unfortunately, that is all that we know at this time. Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO, brought up the Netflix talks as part of a response to Vivendi’s acquisition of Ubisoft Shares.
It’s assumed that the show will be based on one of Ubisoft’s games such as Assassin’s Creed, however the specifics are unknown at this time. This comes after Activision partnered with Netflix for a Skylanders animated show called Skylanders Academy which is Netflix’s first original show based on a video game IP.
Both companies, Activision and Ubisoft, have their own studio to develop TV and movie projects. Ubisoft has worked on shows such Rabbids Invasion on Nickelodeon as well as the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie released next month.
Nintendo was also in discussion with Netflix for a Legend of Zelda show last year, however Nintendo later distanced itself from that report.
