Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Infinity Will Not Be Free To Play

Ubisoft has been coming under fire from fans lately, especially regarding what the future could hold for Assassin’s Creed post Valhalla, and at least one concern has been quieted, in that Ubisoft has confirmed Assassin’s Creed Infinity will not be free to play.

The concern around it being free to play comes from Ubisoft’s recent pivot towards a focus on live service games that can constantly grow and be maintained, rather than single player stories. Assassin’s Creed Infinity being free to play would have been a clear sign that was where the series is also headed, though that question now remains in the balance.

Spotted by website VGC, the publishers chief executive officer Yves Guillemot said during an earnings call “It’s not going to be free to play and this game will have a lot of narrative elements in it.”

Later in the call, Ubisoft’s chief financial officer confirmed that the game “is still at an early stage of development”, so whatever the case is now with Assassin’s Creed Infinity, it’ll be a while before we know anything it seems.
