Ubisoft Doesn’t Think It’ll Delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows Again, And It’ll Arrive In February “With Great Quality”

At time of writing, November is just a few days away, meaning we should have been coming up to the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, originally due out on November 15, 2024.

If you hadn’t already heard though, that’s no longer happening – Ubisoft announced the game was delayed at the end of last month into 2025, with a new February 14, 2025 release date.

With the delay only coming about a month and a half ahead of the original release date, today during the company’s latest earnings call, it was questioned as to whether or not Shadows could be delayed again.

Ubisoft doesn’t think that’ll happen, and did its best to exuberantly show confidence that it won’t. Per VGC, chief corporate finance officer Frédérick Duguet took the question when it came, first explaining why the decision was made, and why he and Ubisoft don’t think another delay will be necessary.

“As we mentioned a month ago, AC Shadows was feature complete, so it was close to being launched. We wanted to make sure that the delivery of the experience is impeccable on day one, so that was the purpose of the decision.

So we have a good visibility for the game to be delivered with a great experience by mid-February, and with great quality.”

However simply saying that they have “good visibility” on the chance of the game hitting its February release wasn’t enough to stop the question of another delay being asked a second time. Again, Duguet said “We have a good visibility for the game to come on time and with great quality.”

VGC also points out that Duguet would later add Star Wars: Outlaws misfiring as part of why Shadows was delayed. “On the back of what we saw with Star Wars Outlaws, we need to really make sure that we come with an impeccable player experience on day one,” said Duguet.

“Of course there are always some bugs, but we’ve been focusing, and we’re continuing to focus on, making sure that the day one experience will be well optimised.”
