Ubisoft: Don’t drink the Kool-aid

Ubisoft’s North American President, Laurent Detoc, knows how to control releases. Unlike other companies that persist in churning out a new title in a series every year, Detoc has taken a quality over quantity approach to Ubisoft’s game plan, stating that the publisher aims to hold off announcing sequels for its biggest titles.

Detoc feels that this long-term business approach will ultimately allow time for their franchises to grow. While this may sound disappointing to fans craving a new Assassins’ Creed or Prince of Persia , Ubisoft is confident it’ll make the waiting game all the more worth it in the end.

"As we get bigger, we can give it more breathing room," Detoc said. "We just did Assassin’s and are sitting on top of the world, but we have to come back to reality very quickly because you’re only as good as your last product. Don’t drink the Kool-Aid too much; we’re going have to defend our position."

We’re certain a lot of gamers will approve and support this strategy, as it will give developers the chance to further polish off their most anticipated releases, rather than simply getting them to retail A.S.A.P. and patching things up post release via an update.
