Naughty Dog has revealed that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End protagonist, Nathan Drake, will feature 800 different facial animations to bring the loveable treasure hunter to life for his latest adventure.
Speaking during a Game Design panel at the PlayStation Experience over the weekend (via GamePur), the studio said that the PlayStation 3-era Uncharted titles featured just 120 animations by comparison, representing an incredible leap for the PS4 title.
Not only that, but the former Crash Bandicoot developer confirmed that Drake’s chest hair will even be affected by the wind during the game. Furthermore, it said that a “considerable amount of time” has passed between Drake’s Deception and A Thief’s End.
It’s not only Drake who has benefited from the added technical prowess of Sony’s latest console. Naughty Dog added that the same amount of detail has been pumped into Uncharted 4’s supporting cast too, including Drake’s older brother Sam, voiced by Troy Baker.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is scheduled to ship exclusively for PS4 in 2015. Check out the full 15-minute gameplay walkthrough from the PS Experience here.
