The developer behind Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has confirmed that protagonist Nathan Drake’s character model will remain identical in terms of detail during cutscenes and gameplay.
Speaking during a panel at the PlayStation Experience over the weekend (via GamePur), Naughty Dog’s Colin Thomas explained:
"A lot of that stuff we were definitely able to handle in shader as opposed to sculpting it into the high res. And that helped a lot to maintain, from as he goes in-game to cinematic, the same level of detail. So, nothing drops in terms of detail level once he gets into the game."
We’ve been seeing a heap of Uncharted 4 details trickle in following the presentation at PSX, among which includes the fact Nate will support over 800 facial animations compared to 120 on PS3, a well as fully rendered gun straps.
Naughty Dog also offered us a glimpse at how Drake’s Uncharted 4 model compares to his Uncharted 3 counterpart.
Uncharted 4 is scheduled to ship exclusively for PS4 in 2015.
