Uncharted 4 Receives Unofficial 60 FPS Update On PS4, But Resolution Takes A Big Hit

Modder illusion0001 has released a Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End 60 FPS update, which offers a silky-smooth performance but at a serious cost to the game’s resolution.

To get the frame rate up and running at 60 FPS, the modder had to make some serious cuts to resolution — from 720p on the base PS4 to 540p. However, there’s also a bunch of glitches too, so the game doesn’t exactly run all that well. You can watch it in action below, courtesy of Mp1st.

Uncharted 4 was released in May 2016 for the PS4, and is fully playable on the PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility. While the game runs fine on the console, Naughty Dog has never released a dedicated update to bring the game up to 4K/60 FPS.

So, what’s next for Uncharted? Well, Naughty Dog appears to have put the series behind it, although at one stage it appears that Sony Bend had been placed in charge of a new title before moving on to a new IP.
