Naughty Dog has included a pair of humorous Trophies in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which those who have been following the series for years will no doubt appreciate.
First up is ‘Stage Fright,’ which pays tribute to a memorable E3 blunder back in 2015, when a live stage demo of the game encountered technical hiccups leaving Nathan Drake stuck in the same spot.
You simply have to wait in the same place for around 30 seconds in the Madagascar marketplace, which takes place just prior to a frantic shootout and jeep chase.
Another Trophy acknowledges criticism levelled at the series in general, specifically the juxtaposition between Nathan Drake in cut scenes versus his in-game counterpart, who merrily goes about mowing down hundreds of enemies in each adventure.
This one is unlocked by killing 1000 enemies in Uncharted 4 and goes by the name of ‘Ludonarrative Dissonance.’
Uncharted 4 is out now exclusively for PlayStation 4. Check our PSU’s full verdict on the action-adventure sequel and see what other critics thought of Nate’s epic swansong in our review roundup.
Set three years after the events of its 2011 predecessor, Uncharted 4 catches up with Nate as he’s living a normal life with wife Elena. However, his world is rocked when his long-lost brother Sam turns up, forcing Drake back into the globetrotting antics of fortune hunting.
Naughty Dog has confirmed that Uncharted 4 is the studio’s final game in the series, although it hasn’t ruled out the possibility of another studio taking over the development reins at some point. Regardless, the Santa Monica feels it has achieved resolution for Nate.
Uncharted 4 will be supported by single-player content for the first time in the series, while the multiplayer component will receive extensive post-launch support until spring 2017.
