Uncharted movie director abandons project, film in limbo again

Seth Gordon, the planned director of the upcoming movie adaptation of Uncharted, has left the project following Sony Pictures’ decision to steer the film in a new creative direction.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Tim Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group, has slashed Uncharted’s production budget and now sees the film as Sony’s answer to Resident Evil, as opposed to Indiana Jones.

In addition, the script is also undergoing a complete rewrite following Gordon’s departure.

This is the latest in a long line of mishaps for the Uncharted film, with the project having lost two previous director’s in the form of David O. Russel and Neil Burger

Last we heard, the film was slated for release in 2016, although that looks highly unlikely now considering the movie had planned to enter shooting in early 2015.
