Undead Labs has assured fans that State of Decay 3 is still very much on the horizon despite the recent cuts at Xbox, which will see the developer sold off, although the identity of the buyer hasn’t been revealed.
Here’s what the studio had to say in a post on its Discord:
Today, Undead Labs begins a new chapter. We’re transitioning out of Xbox and while we can’t share all the details yet, we can tell you this: State of Decay 3 is still coming. The team is working hard and our commitment to this community has never been stronger. More news soon. Survivors stick together.
Undead Labs is one of two studios at Xbox that are being sold off in wake of the format holder’s major restructuring, the other being Ninja Theory. Meanwhile, Compulsion Games and Double Fine Productions are going independent. A fifth studio, Arkane, is currently “beginning required consultation” to determine its future.
State of Decay 3 is in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and is currently pencilled for release in 2027.
