We are responding quickly to the additional U.S. tariffs that have already been implemented and are considering responses to multiple possible future scenarios. It’s worth noting that these are estimates based on the tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump in April, and do not take into account the temporary US tariff suspensions/removals revealed yesterday.

Last week, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) revealed in a new report that Trump’s tariffs could see video game console prices in the US spike by as much as 69%. Prior to this, Circana’s Mat Piscatella warned that the tariffs could pose a threat to the release of physical games, as two major regions responsible for the manufacturing of disc products — namely, China and Mexico — are heavily affected by tariffs.

Sony announced that the PS5 has now shipped 77.8 million units worldwide as of the three-month period ended March 31, 2025.
