Valkyria Chronicles Remastered for PS4 lands in the West this spring

After tweeting a teaser at the end of last week, Sega confirmed Valkyria Chronicles Remastered for the PlayStation 4 will release this spring in North America and Europe (both digitally and physically) for $29.99.

North American fans who pre-order or get their hands on a launch copy will receive a bonus, limited-edition Squad 7 Armored Case for free.

The remaster of the acclaimed strategy RPG will run at full high definition 1080p resolution and at 60 frames-per-second. Additionally, all previously released DLC will be included: Hard EX Mode, Edy’s Mission, Selvaria’s Mission, and Challenge of the Edy Detachment.

The original Valkyria Chronicles for PlayStation 3 was praised for its engaging gameplay and gorgeous water paint-like cel-shaded graphics. The World War-inspired story follows Lieutenant Welkin Gunther and his Gallian Militia Squad 7 on their fight against the evil Empire. A PC port was released in 2014. Two additional sequels were made for the PlayStation Portable and the first game received an anime adaptation (streaming free on Crackle).

A new sequel titled Valkyria: Azure Revolution is currently in development for the PS4. Sega has no word yet on whether the game will release in the West.
