The UK saw video games surpassed for the first time in over ten years as the region’s biggest entertainment medium, with revenue generated by video-based content rising to a staggering £4.9 billion.
Video-based content saw a 10% rise in revenue due to subscriptions made to the likes of Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV and others, while video games pulled in £4.74 billion, which was up 2.9% over the previous year. So, it was a close call, but video-based content took the crown; Avatar: The Way of the Water ranked as the best-selling video title of the year, selling 560,000 units.
