Vince Zampella told Activision not to ‘f**k up’ the Call of Duty 4 remaster

The founder of Infinity Ward has revealed he gave Activision a call and told them, quite bluntly, not to ‘f**k up’ the upcoming Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare remaster for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Vince Zampella, who was involved with the creation of the original version of the critically acclaimed shooter back in 2007, didn’t mince his words with the publishing giant—all in good humor, of course.

I told them–don’t f*** it up,” said Zampella, accompanied by a laugh. “That’s my on the record response. I rang them up and said, honestly, don’t f**k it up. It’s a huge part of people’s gaming memories.”

Zampella isn’t over-emphasising the importance of Modern Warfare either. Back in 2007, the game not only reinvigorated the Call of Duty franchise—which at the time was stagnating within its World War II trappings—but more importantly, was a landmark release for the first-person shooter genre as a whole.

The game’s success lead to two sequels, 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, each of which proved as bombastic and ostentatious as its predecessor. Oh, and they sold by the bucket load around the world, too.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered will be released in November as part of the premium editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
