Visual Concepts, the studio behind heavyweight franchises such as WWE 2K and NBA 2K, has been hit by numerous layoffs as a number of former staff members have taken to LinkedIn to reveal they have lost their jobs.
Brittany Thibodeaux, who worked as a software engineer, revealed in a post on LinkedIn that she had been let go alongside “many” other staffers at the company. Anna Hodges, a game designer, followed up with, “After three years and some change, my time at VC is at a close. I’m so grateful to all of the extremely talented, and dedicated people I’ve had the opportunity to work with.”
Another game designer, Nina Marotta, revealed she was let go while off sick after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder:
Last week, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that will shorten my lifespan. Today, while on a sick day because of said autoimmune disorder, I was laid off. This is the second time in my short career that I’ve gone through this, and I am genuinely in agony both physically and mentally. Today, instead of resting my body, I am up shaking and sobbing and trying to wrap my head about what just happened.
Visual Concepts’ lates title, WWE 2K26, was released for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S earlier this year. The game’s career mode is focussed on CM Punk, who provides the narrative voiceover and depicts various highlights from Punk’s career while also offering Fantasy Warfare matches against multiple WWE legends.
Meanwhile, the game’s roster features over 400 playable characters including superstars from the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide — a first for the franchise. WWE 2K26 debuts the Dumpster match and brings back I Quit, Inferno Match, and 3 Stages of Hell, while the intergender matches have been expanded following their debut in last year’s entry
