Digital Extremes, the studio that’s published Wayfinder and Warframe among others has reportedly joined the ever-growing list of studios that have enacted layoffs, as an unknown number of employees have been cut, according to a new report.
According to Polygon who first reported the story, these layoffs were aimed at Digital Extreme’s publishing teams and external projects teams, under which Wayfinder was supported.
Digital Extremes will however soon end support for Wayfinder according to Polygon’s source, leaving developer Airship Syndicate to pick up the slack and be the full owners of the IP.
In a statement given to Polygon, Digital Extremes confirms that it has “made the difficult decision to cease operations of our external projects division,” and that the company “had to say goodbye to a number of hardworking and highly valuable team members as a result.”
Still however there’s no clear indication from Digital Extremes as to how many have been laid off, though for now it is reportedly at least 20 people.
