Warner Bros Says Harry Potter Expansion Is ‘Only Just Starting’ Following Hogwarts Legacy’s Success

Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed in wake of the enormous success of Hogwarts Legacy that it isn’t done with the Harry Potter franchise, saying it’s “only just starting” with its expansion of the much-loved Wizarding World.

Gunnar Wiedenfels, the company’s CFO, revealed during a panel at the Morgan Stanley’s investor conference that the success of Hogwarts Legacy “shows there is so much opportunity” when it comes to developing more content within the franchise.

We’ve got the new Harry Potter tour coming up in Tokyo in the middle of the year. Long story short, I think this one-company approach, great leadership in the individual business units, but coordinated franchise management is probably one of the biggest opportunities the company has.

Previously, Warner Bros. Games boss David Haddad expressed a desire to transform Hogwarts Legacy into a “long-term franchise. Our goal is to continue to utilise our amazing library of Warner Bros. Discovery franchises as we develop our future slate of games.”

Hogwarts Legacy was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on February 10, 2023. The PS4 and Xbox One editions have now been delayed to May, while the Nintendo Switch version is scheduled to arrive in July.
