Ubisoft has announced its lineup for E3 2016, confirming the hotly anticipated Watch Dogs 2 will be shown at the Los Angeles-based event later this month.
The upcoming action-adventure sequel will join the likes of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, For Honor, South Park: The Fractured But While, plus some “surprises.”
"E3 is always a very special moment when everyone in the entertainment business does their best to amaze and engage gamers," commented Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot. "For Ubisoft’s teams, it’s a period of pride and of anxious anticipation because they are finally showing off the games they’ve poured so much passion into, and receiving feedback from players and peers. Our industry has evolved so much in the past 30 years, but what hasn’t changed is my love and respect for the limitless passion and talent of developers and players alike.
"The video game industry continues to enjoy strong momentum, with powerful new platforms that enable more creativity, expression and imagination. More than ever, video games are showing how they will shape the future of entertainment. I can’t wait to be at E3 and see what the future has in store.”
Ubisoft’s press conference kicks off on June 13 at 9.00pm BST.
Watch Dogs 2 on PS4 likely to introduce a brand new protagonist
Ubisoft officially confirmed Watch Dogs 2 earlier this year following extensive rumors dating back some 18 months. Prior to the game’s confirmation, the publishing giant indicated it needs to take more risks with the sequel.
At the time of writing not much is known about Watch Dogs 2, although previous reports have suggested the game will take place in San Francisco. In addition, a leaked piece of artwork seemingly confirmed a brand new protagonist for the sequel—looks like Aiden Pearce has been given the boot.
Ubisoft recently teased that Watch Dogs 2 will have a new tone in comparison to its predecessor. The game is on track to ship before April 2017 for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
