Weird West launched last March on PS4, though it was of course playable through backwards compatibility on PS5.
On Tuesday however, Devolver Digital has announced that Wolfeye Studio’s weird western cowboy sim will launch natively on PS5 on May 8, 2023, and it’ll be running at a 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second.
“The rumours around the cantina are true, Weird West arrives on PS5 and XB Series X/S on May 8 with all the bells and whistles! More details next week…” Devolver revealed in a tweet.

It’s being called the Weird West: Definitive Edition, which seems to imply that next week we’ll get details on other new aspects of this edition besides the fact that it’ll run at a higher frame rate and resolution.
Perhaps that could even mean new content will be available in this edition, or even at the very least on the horizon for those who grab this version of Weird West.
Whatever it is, we won’t have to wait long thankfully until May 8.
