The PS5 DualSense controller features one new button on it: the Create button. Sony hasn’t been too clear in what this button does and what is possible with it, so here is what the PS5 DualSense Create Button does.
What Does The PS5 DualSense Create Button Do?
The Create Button is a brand new input on the PS5 controller and it replaces the Share Button which was featured on the PS4 DualShock 4 controller. It is signified by a small icon showing three lines, and is placed to the left of the touchpad.
We don’t have a whole lot of information about what this button does at the moment. However, it is safe to assume that the Create button will allow you to take screenshots and video clips from games, just like the Share button could. Sony’s Hideaki Nishino has also said that it will be “pioneering new ways for players to create epic gameplay content to share with the world, or just to enjoy for themselves.”
We could also see this button make use of the recently leaked PlayStation Activities feature, which will allow you to hop into features of a game and specific modes, straight from the PS5’s main menu. This button may bring up a small window on the side of the screen and allow you to hop into a particular mode or match of an entirely different game than the one you are playing, making use of the PS5’s SSD.
We will likely be hearing more about the functionality of the Create Button on the PS5 DualSense controller before launch and during the rumoured August State of Play showcase, which is said to lift the lid on PS4 features like the UI and announce even more games.
The PS5 releases this Holiday.
