Devolver Digital has confirmed that Shadow Warrior 2, the sequel to the much-praised 2010 first-person shooter, will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2016.
The announcement is accompanied by a stunning new trailer complete with signature Lo Wang humour.
“The incredible reception of Shadow Warrior from both longtime fans and gamers new to the series was overwhelming,” said Michal Szustak, Studio Director at Flying Wild Hog. “Shadow Warrior 2 will expand on and improve every element that made the original so unique and strike a balance between classic FPS action and modern design.”
Lo Wang is now surviving as a mercenary in recluse and will use his trademark guns, swords and magic to beat the living daylights out of hordes of enemies. Four-player co-op has been confirmed, as well as procedurally-generated landscapes as players set off on missions and pick up powerful armour, weapons and relics to help them in battle.
“While the game is bursting with stunning visuals and exquisite combat, it’s the near constant barrage of Wang jokes that is going to move product,” said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. “The kids love thinly veiled dick jokes. Love ‘em.”
Shadow Warrior 2 will be revealed in all its glory in an E3 2015 showing which will be streamed live on Twitch.
