Why Destiny’s Hunters have been nerfed

Speaking in its weekly update, Bungie has explained its decision to reduce the prowess of the Hunter class in Destiny following the latest balance patch for the shared-world shooter last week.

According to the studio, it’s all to do with the fact Hunters have become far too dominant in Crucible matches, with the Bladedancer and Gunslinger classes packing a higher kill/death ratio than Titans and Warlocks.

To be more specific, since the beginning of May, the Hunter subclasses have netted a 10 percent higher kill/death ratio than any other class in Destiny.

"When one class becomes the default choice for anyone who wants to do well in the Crucible, we see that as a problem," commented Grant Mackay, Sandbox Designer for Bungie. "We chose to bring the Hunters down from their position of dominance because it is our hope that every variety of Guardian will have a fighting chance."

In other news, Bungie has said that the Trials of Osiris should hopefully be back in the running tomorrow, with Iron Banner set to return next week. The developer was forced to cancel both events due to recent matchmaking issues.

Destiny will receive a brand new expansion, Rise of Iron, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 20.
