Wonder Woman Was ’A Showpiece Epic,’ Says Cancelled Game’s Consultant

The consultant who worked on the cancelled Wonder Woman video game at Monolith Productions has described the title as a ‘showpiece epic.’

Speaking on X, Gail Simone revealed a few interesting tidbits on the scrapped project, and it’s clear it was shaping up to be something quite special indeed.

The game was gorgeous and expansive. It was beautiful to look at. I am not going to give details for a number of reasons, but every effort was made to make this not just a great game, but a great WONDER WOMAN game. A showpiece epic. And all of that was because of the team. Everyone who worked on it brought their a-game. Programmers, artists, designers, everyone. I don’t know that I have ever worked with a team that cared more about making sure the end product was perfect.

The Wonder Woman game was announced at The Game Awards 2021, and Warner Bros. Games later confirmed it would not be a live service affair. Back in December last year, a Bloomberg report stated that at the time of its official reveal, the game didn’t exist as much more than what was down on paper; it late transpired that the project was in trouble, and was still years away from release.

Sadly, the game will now lever see the light of day, as Warner Bros. confirmed overnight that the title had been scrapped and Monolith Productions alongside Player First Games and WB San Diego had all been closed down.
