WWF No Mercy Cited As Key Inspiration For Upcoming AEW PS4, PS5 Title By Producer

Having now split with 2K, developer Yuke’s has said that it’s looking to WWF No Mercy as inspiration for its in-development All Elite Wrestling (AEW) game for the PS5 and PS4, as well as insisting there’s no rivalry between it and the publishing giant.

Yuke’s Looks To WWF No Mercy For New AEW Game

Speaking with VGC, Hiromi Furuta, senior vice president and producer at Yuke’s, commented:

Fans of pro-wrestling games love No Mercy’s game system, so it will undoubtedly serve as key inspiration for us.

Yuke’s had worked with 2K on the WWE franchise for two decades, having started out with 1999’s much-loved PlayStation classic, SmackDown. The studio parted ways with the company, which houses franchises such as BioShock and Borderlands, in 2019.

My goal is simply to create high-quality pro-wrestling games that are loved by the community. I do not think of it as being a rivalry with WWE, but rather as us creating a new product with AEW. I still love the WWE and respect its talent.

Details on Yuke’s AEW title have yet to be revealed, but we’ll be sure to bring you more info as we get it.
