Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi has let loose a few new tidbits of info on the upcoming fifth instalment in the celebrated gangster-‘em-up series, revealing he’d like to have gamers visit a second city alongside the standard Kamurocho.
Speaking during his latest Nico Nico broadcast (translated by Andriasang), Nagoshi confirmed that he’s looking into a number of potential locations for inclusion in the game, including Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka.
For those unaware, the Yakuza games have primarily been set in Kamurocho, which is a fictionalised version of Kabikicho in Shinjuku.
Nagoshi kept mum as to what characters we’ll likely see in the new game, but did say it would be “unthinkable” to have a Yakuza title without series staple Kazuma Kiryu. In fact, Nagoshi went as far to label him as “Mario-like.”
Lastly, the producer admitted he’d like to develop a game visiting the history of the Yakuza series, though didn’t indicate that this latest entry would be a prequel.
Yakuza 5 has yet to attract a release date.
