Yakuza 6 debut trailer showcases massive jump in visuals

At a recent event hosted in Japan, SEGA gave fans a first look at Yakuza 6, which is set to release on PlayStation 4 in Japan sometime in late 2016.

The trailer itself is more of a teaser in length but still does a great job of getting the hype train going at full steam. Primarily showcasing the new visual bells and whistles of the game, the footage shows long-time series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu nipping about his traditional Kamurocho stomping grounds, handing out beatdowns and looking hugely cool while doing it.

What’s also immediately apparent is just how much better Yakuza 6 looks when compared to its predecessors. With much more detailed character models (check out Kaz’s handsome mug), improved shadows and lighting and a whole host of other visual effects thrown in, Yakuza 6 is arguably the best the series has ever looked. Yakuza 6 was announced back in September where, in a surprise move, legendary Japanese movie director Takeshi Kitano was announced to be starring in the game in as-yet unrevealed role.

The first footage for Yakuza 6 comes hot on the heels of the release of Yakuza 5 in the west (look for the PSU review of that by our very own Dane Smith very soon) and the confirmation that Yakuza Zero would also be westward bound sometime next year for PS4.

In short, there is literally no better time to be a Yakuza fan. You can see the Yakuza 6 teaser below.
