Yakuza: Project K details emerge in Famitsu

A fresh wave of Project K info (that’s the Yakuza spin-off title for PSP, in case you wondered) has trickled our way via the latest issue of Japanese gaming bible, Famitsu.

According to the publication, Project K is set in the same location as the other titles in the franchise, namely Kamurocho, and pits players in the shoes of an 18 year-old brawler named Tatsuya Ukyou.

Having been kicked out of school and spent time in juvenile hall, Ukyou went on to embark in numerous street fights and eventually earned himself the reputation of “Kamurocho’s Strongest Street Fighter.”

Apparently, the game’s story will be driven by fully voiced sequences via a swanky technique designed by Spooky Graphics, which is essentially an amalgamation between still shots and animation.

Players will be able to spot familiar locations from previous iterations in the series throughout the sprawling city, while gameplay will remain largely identical, though expect fresh actions and combat tweaks thrown in for good measure.

Project K is due out on PSP this fall.
