Yoshinori Kitase Has Been Named The New Final Fantasy Series Brand Manager

Square Enix has announced that Yoshinori Kitase has been appointed brand manager for the Final Fantasy series, replacing Shinji Hashimoto in the process.

The news was dropped during the Digital Fan Fest over the weekend, where the company also revealed that the Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker expansion would be released in November 2021 on PS5 and PS4.

Kitase-san should be familiar to anyone who has even a casual interest in Final Fantasy, having served as the director on the likes of Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 8, and Final Fantasy 10. He’s also heavily involved in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project as producer.

Hashimoto-san meanwhile has served as brand manager for Final Fantasy for over a decade, and is also the co-creator of the Kingdom Hearts series and produced the likes of Final Fantasy 8, Kingdom Hearts I & II, The Bouncer, Chocobo Racing and Left Alive.

In addition, the also served as executive producer on a number of key Square Enix games including Final Fantasy IV Advance, Final Fantasy V Advance, Final Fantasy XIII, The 3rd Birthday, and Final Fantasy Type-0.
