Bethesda has put the kibosh on the infinite caps glitch in its critically acclaimed RPG, Fallout 4.
The sneaky glitch was discovered just days after the launch of the post-apocalyptic sequel, and simply revolved around a bug that prevented you from running out of ammunition when selling it at a vendor. This allowed you clear out their caps and stock, before repeating the entire process at a new location, giving you access to all the loot you could possibly want.
Unsurprisingly, Bethesda has caught wind of this little trick, and has quietly nixed it in the game’s most recent update. So, no more shortcuts as far as caps are concerned, fellow gamers; you’ll have to go about acquiring them the old fashioned way from here on out. Bugs aren’t anything unheard of in Fallout 4, with one particularly nasty one resulting in the game crashing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Fallout 4 topped the U.K. All Format Chart upon release, becoming the region’s third biggest launch of 2015 so far. Amusingly, the day of release, PornHub noted a 10 percent dip in traffic that was attributed to Bethesda’s open-world sequel as gamers opted to eschew adult entertainment in favour of taking to the wastelands of Boston. Fallout 4 will be supported until at least late 2016 in terms of post-launch content, with development already underway of the game’s first batch of DLC.
Fallout 4 takes place in Boston, U.S., some 200 years after a nuclear war devastated the country, and like Fallout 3, players will emerge from the confines of the Vault to a post-apocalyptic wasteland inhabited by feral creatures and other hazards. Fallout 4 utilizes the Creation Engine, which was previously responsible for powering The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on last-generation consoles, though it has been modified for new hardware. Unlike previous entries in the Fallout franchise, this latest title will include full voice acting for the player character, the ‘Sole Survivor,’ and feature branching dialogue paths similar to the Mass Effect series.
