@ Yuk-Yuk: They cant put an HDMI cable included. 1) cost would be significantly higher and 2) not enough people own HDTVs with HDMI.  Maybe they should include component cables but not HDMI.

Yes they could inclue an hdmi/component cable that would cost them around $10.  Yes it would increase the cost of the base unit, but this is a mistake Sony is making again.  By my simple math they will still be making money on this unit.  Yes that is correct they will be making money on this unit, not loosing money. 

This is a good price point and the PS3 will do well, but there will be quite a few people pissed off because they won't be able to hook up their brand new PS3 to their cool HDTV out of the box.  Is it really worth pissing off those new buyers for $10? 

As far a backward compatability goes, I would have left it in, but if they held a gun to my head and said that or wireless, I would have chosen to do what Sony did. 

Stop crying about everything go buy your own HMDI cable.I guess they should include an HD TV with the ps3 also.

your complaining about a $3 cable. shut the h@ll up! you can buy an hdmi cable for a few bucks. less then component actually. i have 3 or 4 extra just laying around the house and if someone has an hdtv and no hdmi cable already they are completely stupid! almost all upconverting dvd players have hdmi and most cable boxes offer it too but no one puts it in the box because not all tvs have it. you act like this is a big deal. get over yourself...this isn't a mistake...your just an idiot. now no bc in this model can be argued about....but no hdmi...you sir are just dumb.

The reason it doesn't have an HDMI cable is the added expense. Most people out there don't have HDMI yet, so they would just throw the cable in a box. Sony is saving themselves and us cash by not including it.

im thinking sales will jump like crazy. I hope ppl see that a whole bunch of AAA games are coming out in november, so it would be a perfect time to get this really cheap ps3.

I paid £12 for a £30 pound HDMI cable, there are many HDMI cables less than £10. I much do you think Sony would pay for wharehouse prices in bulk? less than £1 each perhaps?

Well if you had bought the PS3 at launch you would have had at least a component cable included, just like i did. Just wish people would stop moaning about the price of the PS3, ever heard the phrase "you get what you pay for" And I have a FULL HD tv and wanted to use HDMI so i went out and got one. didnt post on here moaning about the fact it didnt come with one. Next you will all be moaning about the fact it didnt come with an optical audio cable too.

I payed less than $5 apiece and got a few 6ft HDMI cables off Amazon.  Almost the same prices on Monoprice.com.  It's really a consumer's own fault if they pay $50 for an HDMI.  I do agree that Sony should at least put component cables in the box.
