80GB PS3 amazon sales skyrocket

Retail giant Amazon.com has recorded a massive uptake of the 80GB PlayStation 3, with sales rising by a whopping 483% following the announcement of the USD 100 price cut earlier this week.

The 80GB model, previously ranked at 105 on the company’s sales chart, has skyrocketed into the top 20 selling electronic devices this week, rising to number 18.

Sales of the forthcoming 40GB model are also sure to stimulate consumer interest when it arrives on November 2.

    Price drops are definitely a good thing.  Now all we need are the AAA games, and all will be good.

    Things just keep getting better and better for Sony. Let's hope these drop in prices does not get them into financial trouble.Nevertheless they know how to play their game.

    I can only see things getting better for Sony in the upcoming year with all the great games like uncharted ratchet, gta, haze mgs4, killzone, cod4, assassins creed, orange box, uts, littlebigplanet........

    Once Christmas time comes around and people see all the great stuff like R&C Future, Eye of Judgment, and Uncharted, the PS3 will be sold out this winter

    I guess they wasnt lyin when they say a price cut....will get people on your bandwagon Ha.....and not only that but the people who trash talk the PS3....Is finally seeing tha light!!!! PLAY BEYOND leave the circle box behide!!!!

    as of 7:54pm eastern time, the 80gb is sitting at number 7.  that is a HUGE increase in sales.  GO GO GO !!!!

    The price drop isnt the only reason people are snapping up the 80gb. it's also because people are scared of being forced to get the 40gb and loose all backwards compatibility. People dont want to have to deal with two systems when they can use ONE. The price drop helps them make the decision quicker to run out and get the 60gb but since there are so few on the market right now the 80gb becomes the next thing they choose since they both cost the same if you can find them.

    psn id :soul_reaper25 is the 80gb out yet in wal-mart because i plan on taking back my 60gb for a 80gb more space the beter and plus blue=ray thyank god for blue-ray the ps3 wont never be pushed with out thye blue-ray man welll its not being pushed rihht now but it will in like 09 or 2010 lol its that powerful ps3 U ROCK SONY ROCKS and gaybox sucks big time SONY ON THE OTHER HAND ROCKS WE LOVE U SONY :)
