*WARNING - NOT FOR THE WEAK-HEARTED*

Gearbox Software has released a new developer diary detailing elements of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway which bring more realism to the player. With a destructible cover and a brutal gore system, intense sequences seek to bring the player into the fight. Also, the video highlights how A.I. will react to the environment and actions taking place on the field. Overall, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is shaping up to be one great looking shooter.

Check out the trailer here:

Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway is set to release September 23.

I'm not digging the graphics. They should work on the textures a lot more. I don't think this game wil be a hit

pretty insightful stuff, like the gore system, could be a little much but does remind me of the way movies do it, therefore a positive. i understand that u can let ur team do all the work but to me it just doesnt seem like that would be as much fun. and destructible cover is nice as well, graphics definintely need work though

Meh...they can display the seriousness of war without zooming in on the man getting his body blown in half.

I don't mind the gore system being in there, at all, but by zooming in and stuff they really are trying to cater to the American hardcore spazz. This game will definitely sell WAAY better on the 360.

girgumesh i completely agree, its great to have blood and gore but subtlty is the word, you dont need to zoom in on it! i can see that getting very boring very quickly for most people....apart from crazy ppl and americans.

The gore system is certainly something I have not seen in video games before, I love the way it looks adds that realism to your soldiers. However I hope the shooting and overall gameplay is smooth, this is yet again another shooter---with a gore system.

GIRUGAMESH-- Dude, you are an asshat. You act as if Americans INVENTED violence. Moron. By your anti-Americanism, Im guessing you are British or French. Either way, Im sorry for your loss as your homeland and people are cowards and generally spiteful of Americans for our SAVING YOUR BUTT not but 60+ years ago. Ingrate. PS......that post right after yours (JUST8) is suspect of being YOU under another name. The avatars are dang near EXACT aside from inverted and what Texan mocks Americans or violence?!? Posts seem kinda identical. Lame if you have 2 names here to look as if your thoughts are worth more than the paper I wipe my rear-end with.

i'm sorry but americans are wAnkers (and we did the hardest part of the war, before you lot came in towards the end and took the glory)..then harp on as if you won it yourselves...i suppose thats why europe doesnt particulary like you, and the fact that your all fat, obnoxious gung ho imbeciles!

phew; glad i got that off my chest ;)

    • 8:07am BST - September 6th, 2008

"i'm sorry but americans are wAnkers... your all fat, obnoxious gung ho imbeciles!"

wow.  I'm an American and I don't consider myself to be a "wAnker".  I'm not fat, I'm not obnoxious, and I'm definitely not an imbecile.  Actually, I'm quite educated, physically fit, and generally a nice and approachable guy.

Just because somone says that a game of a particular genre with particular effects will sell better in one market over another doesn't necessarily mean that they're insulting the people of that market.  Take a step back and look at all of the games that are released here in America.  Seriously, at least 40% of the games (blockbuster or shovelware, and I'm not talking about on the Wii, either) are ultra-violent shooters that have over-the-top blood and gore.  And yes, Americans do eat it up.  That's not saying that other markets don't , but I am sick of seeing nothing but shooters ***EDIT: and crappy roster-updated sports games*** coming out for my game consoles.  Where are my GD Japanese RPGS for the PS3?!

What's with all the hate on here?  At the core, aren't we all just humans living insignificant lives on a planet that might just be alone?

@20 you never saved any butt i seem to remember usa didnt even enter the war till 3years later then it was only against japan lol,no the british did all the hard work for years, coming in the last few years dont mean anything.

@27 your uneducated,if u did ur research u will see america has to buy the best scientists from europe every year for top companies n uni`s n nasa n military research, and there would be no nasa  or atomic bomb or rockets if america didnt blackmail german ww2 scientists to work for them or face the death penalty.its europe that saved american butts tbh.usa just good at PR.why do think usa didnt go bk to the moon all this time, cause they cant the german scientists who invented the rockets r all dead lol.

No seriously STFU with the bashing it's annoying. You guys act like we're nothing, but violent people and overweight. Maybe you guys need to come over and see how we live.

Alright now, I'm not gonna delete your comments, but you people have to relax. I'm American, and I love Europe - it's an amazing place. I also love the U.S., even if I'm not so happy about what's been going on in the country recently. Anyway, that's the end of that topic.

Hmmm personally i think some of the textures are a little too bright for the scenario, now im not a fan of the whole coffee cup gritty style but it would be nice to have more grittiness to your textures, all of their textures seem too....clean...fences arent going to be so clean and white, this is war this isnt barbies parlour house, you need to have some sort of wear and tear in your textures.

Personally I also find alot of the animations they have done fairly, amatuer like, they just don't seem to flow nicely, from the combat animations to the npc animations from your squad they all seem to move like, robots, not flow like it should. for a game trying to push realism i think they have focused too much on the gore and let down the other aspects of the game.

Im french and I don't have anything against US gamers. But for this game I hate the textures, colors are too bright which break all realism this game could of got and I don't find the gore that impressive even if it's kinda cool to blow your enemy in half. They should scrap the close slow-motion and work on textures, colours and better animation. A definitive don't buy for me!

Been really really looking forward to this game since seeing one of the first vids last year, One of the main attractions of this title was the realism of it, with the maps being made from actual spy plane photos taken at the time, meaning it was the closest your ever likely to get to being there, BUT now these cartoony looking graphics are in danger of making it not at all realistic, and turning a game that could/should have been an absolute smash hit into an absolute waste of time and effort !!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sort this problem out quick smart. Still looking forward to it but just a bit more apprehensive now.

Gearbox sucks and Randy pitchford is destroying their games.... stalling them and making them look arcady and with 2001 graphics.  It scares me since Gearbox is developing the new Aliens game.. so expect a 3-4 delays and crappy graphics full off bugs once it is finally released.

@ deadonarrival06 & everyone here....I understand/know all your frustrations with this "war" stuff, believe me I can relate, but as americans we have to respect free speech. Now on a personal note...this is only a game guys!! if you're going to take all this personally, then play some kids' games!!!
