Crysis coming for PS3 while 360 falls short

A lot of people were excited about the look and feel of Crysis for the PC. The problem is, most of us couldn't afford to upgrade our PC's to play the game. No need to worry though as they have hinted that Crysis will be making an appearance on your PlayStation 3 console.
According to Crytek insiders, the game is going to be a port of the PC version and will include extra game modes and features that the PC version lacks. You could sort of call it an upgrade of the original.
Due to technical reasons, Crysis is not being developed for the XBOX 360. This does nothing but re-inforce the belief that the PS3 is the better console in the long run. We eagerly await more details on this huge title that could only possibly be rivaled by Killzone 2.
*updated*-changed a word so people don't assume it's 100% fact yet.

REALITY CHECK TIME... You guys are acting as if this is the gospel!
Crytek explained that “next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power” to assure the quality of gameplay Crytek demands for Crysis. Crytek reiterated at GC 06 that currently, "Crysis in only in development for Windows, and that we haven’t lost hope that we’ll eventually see an Xbox 360 version of this first-person shooter."
Keep your blinders on... you'll just end up wrecking! This site likes to report lies, re-read the caption and look for the PS3 logo on Crytek's site. Did you see it?? I didn't either! Keep on dreaming!!! -

This has in no way been confirmed guys. Also, I don't see why the X-Box 360 would be incapable of playing the game. Sounds very fishy right there.

If this ever does happen, it's gonna be graphically toned down and honestly, it only really seems like a game worth trying coz it looks nice. If this sees the light of day on PS3, I'll pass.

hope this is true, the only reason i didn't buy the game for pc is because i don't wan't to invest 1000 euros for just one game but if it's really coming to ps3 this is one more reason to wait and one more reason for people to buy a ps3

I hope the graphics will be good as pc!
LAST TIME CRYTEC SAID CRYSIS WILL NEVER COME OUT FOR CONSOLE BECAUSE CONSOLES CANNOT HANDLE CRISYS. EVEN THE TOP PC's cannot

@StaticneuronI don't know what gpu is better, as I said in my own opinion both cards are very powerful and are both highly optimised to work with the rest of the hardware in the consoles. All I'm saying is that if the ps3 gpu (not including the cell) can handle crysis at a decent level, I'm sure that the xbox 360 gpu could also handle crysis without too many problems. Sure the ps3 is the most powerful console this generation, but that doesn't mean that the xbox 360 is weak. Yes I hate the 360 in every possible way but I'm getting sick of ps3 fanboys laughing at the 360 for being underpowered, when it is clearly not. -

I'll believe it when I see it. I mean, EA is the publisher, and we all know that EA likes money, so I doubt they would alienate the current largest console in america to make this happen. Believe me, I would love to see it happen, but is just seems unlikely

This is, without a doubt, AMAZING! Whatever happened to "It can't be put on a console?" Does this mean people see how powerful the PS3 really is? I hope this is true. I doubt Killzone2 would rival the game, as it will be out long before Crysis gets here I'm sure.

If you look at the spec of the graphic cards the PS3 runs faster than the 360, plus the 360 is already hitting the ceiling in its power with games that are already out like GOW, Halo 3, and it didn't even run them games to good. Developers can't even utilize the PS3 whole processor yet so it's going to end up the better system as soon as they figure it all out. (I have both systems not a fan boy of either)but do like the PLAYSTATION 3 better.

I'm putting this in the dumb rumors bin,if Crytek ports Crysis, wouldn't it be easier to port it to the console with the same architecture? The 360 has a multi-core processor with 3 Power processing elements(PPE),similar to your regular processors, while the ps3 has 1 ppe and 8(one is reserved for XMB,and the other is a back-up,in case one of the eight processors fail) synergistic processing elements, out of which 6 are used for the games. And these SPEs are SIMD(single instruction, multiple data) processors that are much different to your regular intel processor. So simply put,it would be easier for Crytek to port this baby to the 360(unless,you know,it can't handle such a beast). But i'm REALLY hoping that i'm wrong on this one.

The Xbox 360's Hardware wouldn't be able to handle the game Crysis. Think about it. If you got a gaming computer around when the 360 came out or a little after that you would need to upgrade your computer to play Crysis. There for the 360 has the hardware of 1 or 2 years ago so it would not be able to handle the game Crysis. And if it did it would suck. The frame rates would be low and laggy, you need more than one disk to hold all the stuff for the game and the graphics would suck . The Playstation 3 though would be able to handle such a awsome game! With the playstation 3's Blu-Ray to hold the nessisary info and the ability to install the game on the HDD, the game's loading times would be faster than the PC's and thanks to Blu-Ray the graphics would be top notch!

Crysis not on the 360 i bet the 360 could run Crysis well its just probably a Space issue and how they wouldnt wanna embarass themselves releasing it on 2 discs or 3 discs.
Technical issues also could be because of maybe the 360s overheating red ring situation. So this is good news for sony :) and its nice how they can fully take on the tech specs of the ps3 such as the Cell processor/Blu ray capacity/lack of anything overheating.

Finally a game that won't be shat upon by developers to make it work for the 360. Good thing Crysis can go on a Blu-ray, unlike the DVDs of the PC world. Good news nonetheless.

when i seen this i was so happy, just to know that the 360 couldnt handle a game like that. It makes me so happy to own a PS3. Crysis does look amazing, if it actually does come to the PS3, i will be picking it up and i think alot of other people will to

Guys you need a fair amount of memory for those textures...how much does PS3 have again? Lets just sit tight and hear what Crytek are planning - if anything, and if so, how they plan to achieve it and what will be the concessions.

Shaka - there would have to be big consessions to run it - if it could be done at all. Maybe a lighter engine sone concessions with physics and reduced graphics quality & detail might be doable...
I think your expecting too much from your PS3. Firstly Bluray has no impact at all. It doesnt help as it's just a storage medium. Its a higher capacity DVD only slower... Hence the game could not be run directly off Bluray and instead installed and run off the hard drive. Which are low capacity (80GB or less) and relatively slow 5,400RPM drive with no way of leveraging RAID to get better I/O. PC's can have slow 7200RPM drives in RAID or fast 10,000RPM (SATA) and even 15,000RPM (SAS) drives with RAID capabilities and possibly HDD controller cache.
As for RSX - its a mid range 7000 series designed GPU. We are now well passed this generation and infact have just gone through the 8000 series and on the way (next two months) to start using 9000 series. To make matters worst - the graphics package in PS3 has to share memory with the system. You only have 256Mb of system & app resources, leaving 256Mb for video. Thats bottom of the rung mate. Its not very powerful from a GPU perspective. Certainly for engines like CryEngine 2 and games with big textures like Crysis. About 512MB is doable but 1GB of fast dedicated video memory is desirable to play at decent quality settings.
For Cell its got about 600K transisters which was pretty amazing when it was developed about 5 years ago. Todays CPU's though are 45nm process and are 1 million transisters plus. They also have cache sizes some 4 x larger than Cell. Even IBM themselves bypassed Cell and moved to Power 6 processors for "P" series. It's very powerful for a console - dont get me wrong, but dont build expectations of Cell being some amazing super computer - thats all hype. PS2 was presented the same way ten years ago and it ended up being ...just a mere mortal console. and that's OK by me.
If we are lucky, Crytek might be able to deliver a "Crysis - like" game of sorts - but dont set your expectations too high otherwise youll be unnecessarily be disapointed.

All you need to do is look at the Killzone 2 videos or Gran turismo 5 by far far better graphics and physics then any PC game to date including Crysis.
Crysis didnt actually live up to the hype, it was only good with physics which the PS3 can easily deliver thanks to the Cell,The RSX by far is one of the best GPUs in the world, already played Uncharted and Lair,UT3 ect, the graphics on PS3 are superior to any PC games even the jungle in Uncharted looks better then Crysis and this is only the begining.

After having read the original article on Gamesradar I have to question the validity of this, I saw no sort of proof whatsoever. I sincerely hope this happens as I downloaded the demo and could only play with everything on medium settings at 1280x1024, which I guess isnt too bad considering how much of a beast the game is, but would like to be able to run at my native res of 1920x1200 and with everything on high, which isnt gonna happen for me. I dont doubt that the PS3 could run some fashion of Crysis, but doubt it would be as good looking as a full blown uber PC DX10 version with everything on Very High. I agree with the few that have stated that since this is published by EA, it is highly unlikely that if indeed they are going to bring it to a console then it will also be on 360 as well, despite what Crytek may or may not have said. For the time being I will do what the majority of you apparently will not... wait for OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION. If and or when that happens you can be assured that I will get in line to pre-order it, as it stands it is just wait and see. Bottom line is dont get your hopes up on a rumor people.

i seen this game thru the window of my local GAME and didnt think much - if the port does come then i hope we can expect something along the lines of oblivion. i aint very tech savvy - but do pc gamers enjoy updating their computers evry year for the best graphics cards etc?? tech gets better every month - y not invest in a powerful console that will be on the market for at least 5 years?? seems dumb to me - anthoo this story doesnt hold any water with me sounds like some fanboys wet dream...
