Dead Space sequel(s) a possibility?

Coming later this year will be Electronic Art’s first attempt at the horror genre, Dead Space. How will it fair against giants such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil? Right now we’re unsure, but what we can reveal is that the upcoming horror epic could possibly span a series of games, rather than a single entry.

Executive Producer, Glen Schofield, explains:

"I would definitely like to make future Dead Space games, I'd love for this to become a well established franchise; we've created a huge and rich back story and universe, so other games could easily be made."

So if all goes well, a Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3, and maybe a Dead Space 0 could possibly materialise somewhere down the line. Furthermore, Schofield ended with a bold comment by saying, "Right now we are creating our vision which is to be the scariest videogame ever."

Set to release later this year and developed by EA Redwood Shores, Dead Space is the first sci-fi/horror title from the mega studio. Set in distant space, players will take control of an engineer named Isaac Clarke whom finds himself in an unwelcoming experience after he investigates a sudden distress call. Suddenly Clarke must fight to survive the great horrors of space, alone.

what do you guys mean? RE isnt even a survival horror anymore, its an action game. the ONLY scary one was the original RE (directers cut i should say) maybe #2 these RE games have no horror in them, just because there are zombies (not even zombies anymore, now its like possessed people) and some monsters does not make it a survival horror. if that was the case then "the thing" and zelda would be survival horrors. so now i call them survival action games w/some horror elements.. if you want real survival horror check out Fatal Frame or Silent Hill. THOSE are survival horrors. so IMO this will beat RE in being a survival horror

@Gameware336 i agree with you 100% on that statement, RE1 DC was scary and maybe RE2 in some parts but Silent Hill scares me the most. Hopefully Dead Space turns out to be scary as ****, but i'm not expecting anything great from EA, we'll see.

Awfully ambitious of them to talk about a sequel when the first one isn't out yet. It'd better be good or all that sequel talk will be for naught, not to mention embarassing.

i know this won't matter to some but EA is publishing it, not developing it, EA will just throw it on a disk and send it our way

I think it will be a promising game. I like the idea of having to make your own weapons... Almost in all of the other survival horror games, for some reason there are a sh@# load of weapons lying around.. That makes the game less realistic... For it to be a great survival horror game, the developers need to make us believe we are really trying to survive, not just trying to blow a bunch of zombie and creature heads off... Doing that is pretty fun though...

@ Gameware336:  Read the article AGAIN, especially the first sentence of the last paragraph. It reads "developed by EA Redwood Shores".
