David Seeholzer, senior development director for Command and Conquer 3: Red Alert Ultimate Edition, has dished the dirt on what fans can expect from the upcoming PlayStation 3 port of the popular RTS sequel.
"Fortunately the power of the PS3 and the Blu-ray medium has afforded us some extra luxuries that weren't available to us previously," Seeholzer wrote on the official PlayStation Blog.
One of the most obvious luxuries, unsurprisingly, is the quality of the visuals of which Seeholzer notes is particularly event in the game’s water effects: "The most noticeable difference you'll see in the Ultimate Edition on PS3 is an increase the visual quality of the game so that it truly stands up to HD Blu-ray definition. A perfect example of this is what you will see in the game's water. One of the huge new features you'll see in Red Alert 3 is an increase in naval warfare and amphibious units.”
“Most strategy games in the past have never paid much attention to navy but we're bringing it to the center. As such, we paid close attention to detail with it and ensured that we maximized its visual aspects, without penalizing game performance even under the most intense of battles,” he explained.
Furthermore, Sony’s Blu-ray format has facilitated additional content and exclusive features, such as new skirmish maps and extra video content, while additional development time has allowed the team to fine tune the game’s missions specifically for PS3.
Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 Ultimate Edition is due out in March.

I love CC games. Can't wait for this. Even though they do play better using a keyboard and mouse, if done right, it won't be too bad to use a controller for them.
