Electronic Arts has officially lifted the curtains on survival horror sequel Dead Space 2, confirming the game is currently in development for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms.
According to EA’s press blurb, the sequel marks the return of protagonist Isaac Clarke, who will apparently be “taking the fight to the Necromorphs” in a fright fest packed with new weapons, characters and “epic zero-G environments.”
Dead Space 2 executive producer Steve Papoutsis commented: “The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing.”
“In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”
The original Dead Space launched back in October 2008, and has since gone on to shift around 1.4 million copies across PS3, PC and 360. A prequel, Dead Space: Extraction, was released for Nintendo Wii a few months back.

Knew they would be working on a sequel. 1st game was too good for them to pass up making money off of a sequel. This is EA after all... lmao
Fiist DS was a great game and I've been awaiting the announcment of the sequel. The audio in that game was OUTANDING. Truly helped set the atmosphere and tone for the game.
Cant even count how many times I stopped short myself from just rushing into a room because the audio would make me second guess myself. lmao

1.4 million sales across all platforms? Strange and disappointing sales... it was a brilliant game.
If you haven't played it, pick it up. I doubt very much that you'll regret it. Way, way better than Resi 5 - and I'm a Resi fan.

I am half excited and half worried for this sequel. The first game was great but you were not some super-everyman with an ar senal of weapons and ultra bad-a**, you were a miner in a mining suit that had a plasma cutter and accidentally came across some other weapons. From the description it sounds like they are going for just the opposite and that worries me.
Well, I guess I will just have to wait it out and see what they do.

I still wanna know what happened on the ship in the ending. X_X I won't spoil it for anyone that hasn't beaten the game, but I'm sure everyone that has knows what I'm talking about and wants to know what happened as well.

ooo this is gonna be awesome, i just picked up some true surround sound headphones and played through the first one with em and it was just an orgasm in my ear, I cant wait to play this one with those headphones as well. I would suggest to anyone that is still listening to the audio of games through your t.v. to pick some of these up, they're a little pricey but definitely worth the money. This is gonna be epic

Good thing they've finally announced it. The first one was amazing (killed RE5, if you ask me), and I expect greatness from this one. I think the best thing about the first one was that it was genuinely FRIGHTENING, instead of how RE has become.

@ 8 - agreed.
The first one had the right setting as you went to do one job and ended up having to SURVIVE, instead of this leading the charge where "you are the only one who can stop them" BS.

the first game i found to be the slightly better version of resident evil 5. Don't get me wrong i loved resi 5 but not a fan of the standing to shoot thing considering that dead space has the same sort of control system. All in all i think that the next game will hopefully be better than the first.

oh yes I knew it!! Santa Jesus is real! and he's answered my prayers!
the first game was AMAZING! The controls, the setting, the gore, the scares, the story, and zero G
OH GOD I CAN'T WAIT!
hopefully they'll have some filler movies that will show tit bits of the unknown parts of the story, like the animated move, Dead Space Downfall and the comics did
