The full article may be viewed here. Now to put the spotlight back onto themselves, EA released a statement which hints that its own future acquisitions are not out of the picture.
Button-Brown, Director of Business development for EA commented, "It's always possible. My primary aim is to find new IP and work with great developers whether we acquire them or not.”
Furthermore he added, "It would have to work for both parties. There are no hostile takeovers, it has to be right. Look at Bizarre being bought by Activision. Bizarre were independent for so many years but then they felt like they wanted a little bit of shelter and it fitted. If we'd have been working with Bizarre, that would have been an interesting deal."
Possible candidates for EA to look at would be Rockstar Games, which is currently under the watchful eye of Take Two games. Rockstar Games owns IPs such as Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, and Midnight Club Street Racing.
Brown finished off by saying, "There're so many opportunities out there. Look at Crytek, they make absolute bleeding-edge first-person shooters and they have been doing this for some time. It's not something that we specialise in.”
Some may remember that EA recently wrapped up a big deal themselves, securing the holding rights of Bioware/Pandemic. Something gives the impression that EA is about to announce yet another big acquisition really soon.

Wasn't there a rumor not to long ago of Sony buying out Rockstar in the near future? I hope it's true & Sony snaps up Rockstar before EA can have the chance. Any Rockstar game with EA as their head would be disasterous.

Bizzare? Wtf is that. This collumnist sucks. Anyways, i think its kinda lame that blizzard got picked up but, on their website it states it will not affect their own creation and organization of games, although activision may pull something like "Starcraft 2 has to hit consoles" which could make a major dent in the computer gaming industry. In terms of ea picking up rockstar, i could care less. It doesnt mean ea starts making GTA. They just give them a bit more help doing it.

Dayum, hope Rockstar stays put, they continue to do good things from where they are - shouldn't mess with a good thing...especially when EA is being metioned in the same sentence as a buy out.....makes me feel weird just thinking about it, like a lost child who doesn't know who their real parents are....makes me sad to think about it.
I know they wouldnt sell the company to EA, Rockstar even makes fun of EA in their games... Anyone who owns the GTA SA, unlock the "bullet" car in the driving school by getting all the medals in silver and check the plate, it says something about EA ;)
i dont know how to feel about this one. EA puts out amazing graphics at times ( AT TIMES) but gameplay really needs an edge on their part it's something that there lacking in big time, plus all the hand me down ports they are giving the PS3 owners is starting to become a severe headache now. EA buying Rockstar?? who knows but I dont think it would change developement, hopefulle rockstar isn't that stupid to let EA control their IPS. So i guess i have mixed feelings about this one.
Any thing but R* merging with EA,and i'm good with that.There aren't many developers in the industry as talented and expressive as R*'s.And EA get their money hungry paws on them then it would mean the best gaming franchises will be turned into mediocre ripoff POS.
