Developed by Monolith Productions, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin continues the horrifying story of Alma and her deadly revenge on the people who wronged her. Players will take the role of Michael Becket, a Special Forces op who is sent into the city after the holocaust that took place at the end of the original game.

Thanks to the team at Eurogamer.pt, we have a visual comparison of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of the game. We have displayed a few of the comparisons below for you, letting you be the judge at which version looks better. According to our analysis, the textures appear to be near the same in both versions with the Xbox 360 version appearing slightly darker in certain scenes.

I really hate to say it... but the 360 shots look better.  Slightly sharper and slightly more punch to the colors.

you can't compare still shots really, because PS3 has better lighting and that can't be seen in stills.

     same to me

I think the 360 looks better in all but 1 shot where i cant tell. Shouldn't this have been posted on a 360 fanboy site!? lol  Hate to say it but there ya go.

The only difference I can see is that the dipshiet who took the pictures obviously hasn't turned on Super White and Full-RGB, and the fact that the PS3 version has more grenades in it. :P

i wonder if the ps3 graphic setting is on limited or full.

Looks mostly the same, but the 360 ones looks quite better.

Take a look at the bricks in picture 2, the bricks at the right. You'll notice the difference there.

I'm angry :P. I have my PS3, and PS3 has bluray. Then why does the 360 keep getting better graphics?

    • 11:18am GMT - January 23rd, 2009

They both look basically identical, although in pictures two, three, and five, the Xbox 360 version looks slightly better. Still not enough to convince me to buy the Xbox 360 version over the PS3.

  15. ZenSelai

    • 11:22am GMT - January 23rd, 2009

they dont get better graphics, we get rubbish ports. thats the difference. killzone 2 is an example that the ps3 can out do the competition.

Number 15 makes a good point. Besides there really is no differance here in graphics.

    This game looks really poor.

Xbox screens looks a bit sharper...but...this game  don't deserve to have place on our black monolyth.

they did the same thing with assassins creed. when the full setting is enabled it looks no different to the poxbox version.

this looks like they developed with the 360 in mind first. then ported, looks crap anyways, yuck to both versions, especially after being spoiled by Killzone 2 imagery.

  22. Neo_Aeon666

    • 11:58am GMT - January 23rd, 2009

It's pretty much the same. I am doubting the tv settings were the same though. Brightness and contrast are so different. It's either that or the Fear2 team has no idea how to set brightness and contrast into a ps3 game wich i doubt lol. I'd say BOGUS. Or they had a hard time developing it on ps3 since it was pc based? O_O

look at the bricks in the second set of pictures. The Xbox360 looks better.

    @21

Its been hammered. Upcoming FPS would have to line up to get hammered too.

wasn't this game developed on the ps3? the ps3 version SHOULD look better if it was

    • 12:17pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

@ 3. I agree but why would you get FEAR for PS3 or 360 its PC all the way.

  27. iplayonlysony

    • 12:45pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

It doesn't matter.  They both look about the same.

  28. Robotron

    • 12:48pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

I'm sorry but since the gametrailers fiasco does anyone really trust comparisons anymore? Is it the exact same TV? How are both systems hooked up? What are the settings on both systems? There are too many variables that people can change to make one look better than the other. I have had the demo for over a week and it looks alot better on my PS3 than it does in these shots.

  29. kcgreatfox | El_Senor

    • 1:12pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

These comparisons don't work because the brightness levels always seem to be set higher on the ps3 screen shots for every comparison I've ever seen. I find it hard to believe that every single multi consloe game runs brighter on the ps3 than on the 360.

    • 1:20pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

The 360 images are slight sharper. Not enough that it will deter anyone from enjoying the game though.

    • 1:37pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

Unfortunately the 360 does look a little better - sharper and more vivid colors.  I blame the devs though, not the system.

  32. bracomadar | bracomadar

    • 2:27pm GMT - January 23rd, 2009

They look the same, only with different brightness.  I was playing the demo and it looked like the 360 version shown here because I adjusted the brightness correctly.  I never played the first FEAR, and while the demo was okay, I think I'll pass.  The end of the demo where you're in the mech thing was lots of fun (too bad the whole game wasn't like that), but most of it you got these stupid scenes flashing in front of you and it's just annoying instead off scary.  The game also seemed set on a path instead of giving you free range.  I hate games like that.  I want to be able to roam around in a game like that.  Even though there were rooms you could explore around in, it wasn't enough for me.  I didn't really care for the controls either.  They weren't the worst I've seen, but they weren't the best.  Graphics were good, the AI was really good, I loved the mech part at the end of the demo, I'll give it that, but yeah, I'm gonna pass.  If it was just a game where you go around shooting guys and got to play in the mech, then I might get it, but those flashback, acid trip things were just annoying and took away from the game.  I know that suppose to be the main point, but ehhhh, not my type of game.

Why can developers ever get same brightness on PS3!!! Again PS3 looks washed out but i just can not be sure until brightness is same.

360 has bolder colors, but unfortunately the black is way too bold. Its too dark in places.

you mean it has more contrast...you know you can change that when the game starts

they're both ports. like the original it's meant for the pc. I loved the original on the pc and hated it on the ps3. Played the pc demo and it looks great. Not much has cnhanged so the multiplayer will be great again. Of course it doesn't compare to kz2. However the original was a great mix of a horror story with great gameplay and this one is basically the same but with better graphics and more options. A must download on pc for me ;D

Toss-up, really. In other words, "moot". Although the 360s are darker.

Hmmm.. Im curious to know if they turned Full RGB on and Superwhite..

If they havent, its probably why the PS3 comparison pictures look a tad bit washed out.
