Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that Far Cry 2 has notched up one million sales following its release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 last month.

"The holiday quarter is off to a solid start with the successful launch of Far Cry 2," he commented. “The game is well on track to achieve our expectations for the year."

Far Cry 2 offers players an entirely non-linear, open-ended experience with gamers able to navigate a sprawling, 50 square km landmass in Africa, featuring terrain from savanna to the jungle.

And?  Gears 2 sold over 2 million over the weekend..  Since FarCry was heavily marketed and hyped, I'm suprised it hasn't sold over a million already..

Greate game. Really love it. @ SpyroViper. One of the most expensive marketed game on video game history  was GOW 1 and 2 the first one was Halo franchise. Far cry2 deserve all the hype it can get. This game was a low budget marketing.  Spectacular graphics greate gameplay its a most have

Far Cry 2 is really a nice game to play but it needs a splitscreen option and more veicles like tanks or something alike.

Fantastic Game, especially since it has a map creator built into it also! I've already built 2 maps:  'The 4 Towers' and 'Dogon Empire-sniper' and working on my third :)

My friends got COD5, but I want to get Far Cry 2.  Does anyone have an opinion which is better based on them playing both games?  Is the shooting as good in FC2 as in COD5?  Also, how is the map editor?  That's the main reason I want it is because it has a map editor and I wouldn't be stuck playing the same ol' multiplayer maps like in Call of Duty.  Of course if the shooting isn't as accurate and good as COD4, or 5, I think I'll probably pass.

Stop the madness, people.  Far Cry 2 is NOT worth buying unless you enjoy the most repetative sandbox game in the history of the industry.  It is nothing more than a rinse/repeat gameplay.  It is full of bugs and strange decisions by the developers.  Also, the devs lied when they said everything would be destrucible.  Very little, in fact, can be destroyed.  The multiplayer is also deeply bugged and Ubi has done NOTHING since release to fix the problems or even communicate with its customers about it.  This is RSV2 all over again... but worse.  SKIP THIS GAME.

Its a good title I do have alot of fun in the open world but I wish the AI was not just so stubborn. They will attack and follow you at every checkpoint and there is no disguises to get past them or nothing. You will find jeeps and what seems like repetative respawning of enemy soldiers everything in some situations even though you just cleared the area. I recommend fallout 3 over this title first. If only the AI was not so stubborn.

I still plan on getting this game but probably have to wait till xmas time. Just too many games and not enough time, it's just insane.  My Collector's Edition of Fallout 3 just arrived and I still haven't played R2 which I purchased last week.  Time to finish LBP and move on I guess.
