Final Fantasy XIV may be a while off, but the official website was recently updated to show off class details for the Gladiator and Pugilist. Other updates include a first look at the in-game weapons used by both classes.
Pugilists utilize light armor and prefer hand-to-hand combat. They’ll also get their hands on classic Final Fantasy weapons like cesti. The Gladiators are sort of the opposite of Pugilists as they sport heavy army and carry heavy swords. They also wield throwing knives and a defensive and offensive shield.

Look for Final Fantasy XIV with a simultaneous global launch in 2010. Language supports include Japanese, English, French, and German.

Interesting... that gladiator looks very assassin's creed-ish. Also odd to see a Final Fantasy sword that a reasonably normal size.
BTW... Anyone who posts "first" without anything else of substance in their message should receive an instant perma-ban. SO FREAKIN ANNOYING!

Lol, I'm so getting this game.
FFXI was simply my favorite game of all time. Slow-going and all. I'm actually disappointed that they announced that it will be "solo-able" (more or less) like WOW. But whatever, as long as it's as balanced as FFXI was. No MMO I've ever played balanced jobs (classes) like FFXI, IMO. Everyone had their role...except that whole Dragoon thing...such a shame. FFXI players know whet I'm talking about.
