Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has responded to claims that fatalities are to be removed in the forthcoming MK vs. DC Universe, revealing that the popular feature will instead be modified.
Speaking to Gametop, Boon stated, “There was never any statement on our part that fatalities will be gone or that finishing moves will be gone.”
“We did acknowledge that we won’t be able to do the same kinds of outrageous moves, like tearing someone’s head off and the spine being attached to it.”
“But there are a lot of assumptions that there will be no blood in the game, that there are no fatalities in the game. It’s an assumption that, because the DC characters will be in there, those features will have to be dropped. My response is that, no, we’re modifying fatalities,” he added.
Despite this, Boon noted that the level of violence for this feature has yet to be determined, but assured gamers that they could look forward to traditional finishing moves involving a series of quick button presses at the culmination of a battle.
“But I have every intention to keep finishers. You know, to let gamers do a really cool secret button combination and follow with a really outrageous finishing move to end the match. The names of these moves, and the level of violence we use, are to be determined. But it’s certainly not a feature we plan on eliminating from the series.”
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

Its not gonna be the same. To be honest I was looking forward to this title until I heard (hope im wrong) that the intense blood and gore was to be removed. I remember playing MK II on Sega Genesis; some badass fatalities right there. I guess there will be something worse than the MK Movies.....jk!

I normally don't make up my mind about a game before it comes out...but as a hardcore fighting game player, this seem like it will be HOT GARBAGE!! from the start.

My favorite Mk is shaolin monks, it got amazing 2 players gameplay and an innotive combat. i wish they would make another one like it. I could not digest Mk armageddon.
Fatalities move ia the signature of MK if they take it out it will just be another boring street fighter game...
