Fresh rumours on the PlayStation Portal OLED model have surfaced online this week with two registrations — CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105 — made by Sony Interactive Entertainment on Wi-Fi Alliance last month very likely to be the new device.
In case you haven’t been keeping up, respected hardware insider Kepler_L2 stated back in January that Sony was working on an OLED version of PS Portal for release in late 2026. The registrations above are unlikely to be related to the current model, as the existing PS Portal models are in the CFI-Y1000 series, while the above listings are CFI-2000. So, the chances of them being the OLED mode are pretty high.
Nothing official has been announced by Sony yet, so treat this as a rumour for the time being.
PS Portal arrived in November 2023 and uses Wi-Fi to allow users to stream their PS5 games to the device, essentially turning it into a handheld console While it launched at a fairly expensive price point, that didn’t stop PS Portal from going on to sell pretty strongly, to the point where Sony’s Takruo Fushimi said response to the device has been ‘overwhelming.’
A major update last November saw Cloud Streaming made available for users, where select PS5 digital games from your library could be streamed provided you are subscribed to PS Plus.
