First Yakuza 4 details unearthed

SEGA has unveiled the first concrete details on its in-development PlayStation 3 adventure Ryu ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu wo Tsugu Mono, otherwise known as Yakuza 4.

As with parts 1, 2 and 3 (the latter of which still hasn’t seen the light of day in western territories, and probably never will thanks to weak sales of the first two games in that region) Yakuza 4 will take place in modern times, and introduces two new characters – Masayoshi Tanimura and Takeshi Kido.

According to early reports, Tanimura (voiced by Hiroki Narimiya) is a fellow police officer in the city of Kamiyacho, while Kido (voiced by Kenta Kiritani) is a member of the Toujoukai mob. Both of these story elements have featured heavily in past installments, and should give fans a solid indication as to where the game is headed.

Lastly, SEGA confirmed that the game will utilize advanced 3D technology allowing for an actor’s likeness to be featured, a first for the Yakuza series. Further details are expected to be unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

Stay tuned.
