Chris Hinojosa-Miranda, Associate Producer for Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), has said that the full version of Gran Turismo 5 will not be released for roughly another year.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog, Hinojosa-Miranda commented, “To further clarify, GT5 is still about a year away."

His response comes in light of fans questioning whether they should wait for the full game or invest in the forthcoming GT5 Prologue.

In answer to this, Hinojosa-Miranda added, "You should just decide now to buy it, enjoy it, go online and race against anyone and everyone, rank number one worldwide, get the girl (or guy) and become the most popular kid in town. The end."

GT5 Prologue is due out in Europe later this month, with a North American release following in April.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Here I am thinking that this game was comming out this year and would signal the resurgence of the Playstation brand. What a bummer. Atleast I can now stock pile old ps1 and ps2 games before getting the actual system.

    2 days... :)

remember back on GT1 how you got the high res night time track to drive round in on the subaru (i`m guessing to show the graphic capability`s) well it would be cool if for GT5 if say, once u got to about 80% completion of the game it unlocked a special one off level where you had access to say 2 cars that had damage modelling on it & you could race them purely to see what it`l be like & show off the graphics. obviously car manufacturer`s arent happy seeing their cars being totalled, but i`d still shed a tear wiping out a digital bugatti veyron !

either that or weather for one track...

Bugger, but if its still a year away it must mean that the full game will be emense, here's looking forward to hundreds of cars with more customisation than you can poke a stick at. Ps please please include the vintage volkswagens again, i loved racing friends in the tuned 1949 VW Beetle's but this time lets have some bigger engines to whack in them!

I don't see the point of these prologue versions, as the full game is much bigger and better... it's a bit like playing a huge demo, and having to pay for it... not a particularly small sum either...

A year away!? wow that's long time to wait. i'll get GT5 prolgue.  but, atleast i won't have to wait to much longer for GTAIV and MGS4.  If X-play gives MGS4 a low review score. i will get them kicked off the air. some how.

i'm worried that when the full game comes out a new Forza and PGR would've been out and surpasses GT5 graphically, physics wise and gameplay.

Well, damn I had no idea that GT5 was still about a year away. I was hoping that GT5 could make a late 2008 release date, but I guess that's another game pushed into 2009. Most places (including PSU) had the release date for GT5 in late 2008, but on Wikipedia it says that GT5 isn't coming out until 2009. I guess Wikipedia can be accurate when it wants to be. But, if GT5 is about a year away, that means that it's going to come out early 2009. I can't even remember how many times Gran Turismo 4 was pushed. Well, here's another big heavy hitter Playstation exclusive that's been delayed.

The game delays is what's killing the PS3 and that's why the PS3 hasn't been able to hit it's stride yet. For the PS3 to be successful this year, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 MUST be released in 2008 and they MUST not be pushed because next to MGS4, they are the other 2 big games for the PS3 this year.

prologue has never been delayed, it's just they've never released a date for it. So could we really say it's been delayed rather than say their not done

one year for the final game, for me that will be easy to wait without prologue, i'll just play at grid in the mean time instead of paying 40€ for something that i'm gonna get in the full version

Well maybe you shouldn't have wasted your time on GT5P and got the damn game out quicker.  Good thing I won't miss it.  I hate driving sims.
