Guitar Hero guitar not compatible with Rock Band

Over the last few weeks, gamers have been confused about the compatibility of Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars. Until now, it was widespread belief that Guitar Hero guitars would work with both games, while Rock Band guitars were exclusive to the title it was designed for.

For the most part, this is true, however, it seems that the PS3 Guitar Hero guitar is not compatible for Rock Band.

When you are using a Guitar Hero guitar on Rock Band, the game will recognize the guitar as a controller, and prompt you to plug in a guitar to play. On the Xbox 360, the wireless guitar from Legends of Rock will work fine to play Rock Band.

There has been no word yet from Harmonix or Red Octane on the subject, but expect to be updated soon on the subject.

    This sucks! I was going to get the hole band by getting the drums,guitar and mic from Rock Band and the "bass" from Guitar Hero. I really hope they fix this in a patch or something soon...

    I agree with Jackobinen, I was going to do the same thing!! If there is NO patch then I have to pay more $$ to have a complete set. Not a good thing right now since Christmas is just around the corner.

    all this crap with rock band and guitar hero for ps3 is really getting on my nerves. the game was fricken on the playstation in the first place! and now it's the one with most problems. the 360 versions of gh3 and rock band all work perfectly, like gh3 controller works with gh2. they should really stop screwing over the people who support gh's original platform because we don't deserve all of this crap.

    PS3 owner's completely got the shaft when it comes to guitar peripherals.  It would be sweet if a 3rd party could make a ps3 peripheral that works with all games, including BC PS2 games.  Unfortunately, that may be difficult to get by RedOctane.

    They created the original game that started all this and the cant even make it so I can plug in my old GH1 guitar via USB adaptor. I have the game a lone and unless I want to play vocals for the next 2 months I can't play the game at all.

    Stand alone peripherials won't be available until next year!!!!!!! whan a bunch of CRAP!! Great job Harmonix for thinking this one through!!! anything to make more $$$ from us!
