Quantic Dreams COO and Founder David Cage has let slip that Sony is labelling its upcoming thriller Heavy Rain as the “most important” PlayStation 3 release of 2009.
Speaking with VG247 during a demonstration of the game at the Leipzig Games Convention last week, Cage commented, “A risk? I would rather say it’s an opportunity… If you listened to the keynote speech yesterday, David Reeves said this is the most important title for next year. I believe it’s an opportunity to expand the market, also.”
Elsewhere, Cage also stated his belief that the highly anticipated PS3 exclusive offers a means for consumers to get into “traditional” videogames, pointing to the title’s cinematic qualities.
“It’s an opportunity to get people on board with traditional games,” he added. “Everybody likes stories, like characters, likes emotions, and it’s an interesting way to get people playing on PlayStation 3.”

It don't think it will be the "Most" important game of 2009. Too hard to deceid with Ico's new gmae (SoTC2 hopefully), Killzone 2, Socom, God of War 3 maybe, Rockstars new game maybe and their LAnoire, possible MAG but thay might push into 2010. Heavy Rain just makes it better.
Many Sony is brainstorming 2009.

Everybody here saying its not going to be the game of 09 because of killzone2 is and stuff..... you need to get off of the shooting games. Games that you just shoot people 95% of the time can't be the one that sells the system everytime. Don't get me wrong they are great games, but everyone don't want a whole bunch of killing games. When he say that its the most important game of 09, its because most likely he seen the game play and went deep into it. And the game just might be that deep to him. So wait to say stuff like that

As far as i'm concerned no one game can be the MOST important title for the ps3,cuz that just isn't how we do things on a playstation, though this title is definitely important to diversify the ps3 catalog.

for all of you who are doubting this game, just play "Indigo Prophecy" on PS2. This guys made an excelent game and maybe not your average action/adventure game, but this guys at Quantic Dream know how to emerge you into the story from beggining to end.

I dont know...you cant really have a "Most anticipated game" simply because people are anticipating different games. From what i have seen of this game and experienced other games by Quantic Dreams, this game is sure to be a must have for 2009. But i can say this: It wont be the only must have.

LOL. ok its one of the only ps3 games to try to use 100% of the ps3's cell processor and true power but that wont truley be tested till Crysis comes out in the 2nd Quarter. But if i had to pick sonys biggest game for 2009 so far killzone2 considering it sonys best first person shooter. It kills halo fans every ambition and tbags the faces. how halo can look so bland and still be considered so great is beond me but thats for another debate. my fellings who ever is on the art design team at bunjie let there kids pick the colors for the game.

no killzone 2 is the most important release because of the years of development and all the hype. if it doesn't deliver.........whereas people have only known about heavy rain a few weeks ago.

"Heavy Rain "most important" PS3 title for '09, says Sony"......yeahhhh, I think I am gonna have to go ahead and say NO to that....yeahhhhhh....NO!
Sony needs to stop smoking that stuff........right about now good JRPGs are most important in 2009 for the PS3. And as for the most important title why doesn't GOW3 fit the bill huh Sony?

Are shooting games and GOW 3 the only games that make up the “important” section on the PS3 people? Geez. Heavy Rain is shaping up to be a fantastic PS3 exclusive so quit hatin man it get's really old. Heavy Rain is something fresh - appreciate that. Though I'm excited for Killzone 2 and God of War 3, Heavy Rain will hold it's own and prove why it's only on PS3.
