Deep Silver has announced that Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are receiving free updates later this month for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, enhancing both games for modern hardware.
Speaking on the official website for the series, the publisher revealed that these upgrades are not a full remaster or remake, but rather include “meaningful improvements to take advantage of the latest PC and console hardware.” To that end, all formats will include 4K textures, offering “greater depth and atmosphere to the haunting world of Metro.”
In addition, the next-gen update includes native support for PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S, with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) available on PS5 Pro. Furthermore, the console versions will offer 4K at 60 FPS and upscaled 4K at 120 FPS, higher quality lighting, shadows, and particle effects. Adaptive Trigger support is also coming to the PS5 versions, as is Power Saver Mode.
Existing owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux will be able to download the next-gen update on October 29, 2026.
