The newest build of online communication hub Home has been released.

According to members of our forum, several new options are now available in build 0.7.7:

-There's a new building in the world, although it's currently not able to be entered
-You are finally able to enter your Home Space's patio
-You can now use your own pictures in your Home Space
-A game launching option has been added, though it is not functioning completely at the present time
-The cinema's movie theatres have transferred from the second floor to the first floor
-America, Japan, and Europe each have their own server now

It seems Sony is working hard to implement all the features they promised for their virtual world. From the other side of the spectrum, it's unsurprising they delayed the full product until 2008 if they are just implementing these key aspects now.

Stay tuned for more on the Home Beta and Home's ever-changing release date here at PSU as it breaks.

The whole G.A.P member stuff is nonsense since I'm a member and I don't have the beta. But I do have the God of War psp demo... I rather that than having to be commited to a bugged software

Wow, I agree, no wonder why they didn't release it. It seems that most of the things they said you could do with it on launch isn't even in the beta, thats a bit dishearting. I'm glad they delayed it after hearing this, however it kinda stinks because it seems that alot of things the community are asking for is tied to home. So to me the the delay in home means delays on other things, ..one of those IMHO, is in game xmb.

But to Jacksbak, the HOME isn't released yet and you have to be G.A.P memeber form what I can tell, to get an invite to the beta. There is no way to leverage anything to help expediate the process, unless you happen to drink wine on a daily basis with a SCEA CEO? ;P

this all sounds good, but earlier in october i came across a rumor and a picture of this rumore that showed UT3 which is now coming dec 11, using something called gamercards i guess is suppose to be like gamerscore or something like it, also games like uncharted already have their own achivement system and naughty dog even stated that it is supposed to be tie in to home, also at e3 i remember seeing a trophy icon on the xmb, hopefully home will have these on launch day so that the titles that already out would only need an update to make use of these features. also a pstore in home wouldnt hurt either.

I just don't get why it won't get released at least in Beta form soon.  Unless it's just terrible I'd think that with features like the Gamercard, etc that has already been shown in a game like UTIII that Sony would want people able to start USING those features ASAP.  Why not just "wall off" other areas or features and let features, etc simply "unlock" over time with updates?  XBL is the one are where MS is really Killing Sony.  Sony needs Home to be a success to compete with those features and while I agree with making sure that Home is GOOD before going all out, I don't see anything wrong with implementing even some of the smaller features as soon as possible without allowing access to those that are unpolished or problematic.  Surely they can do that?

I think the development team for Home has to be small. I mean thetiny amount of headway we;ve made in the last few months seems choked, as if there arnt enough people to implement such small things that have been planned from a year ago. It's good to see some of the features are finally getting in there but we need to start testing things that are more inportant to the over all structure of how home works. Lets get this game joining mechanic cranked up, Game invites, In game calls, I'm glad I can use my one pictures now, but lets hurry up and get to the game part of it.

It's great news that they are making progress and releasing new stuff for the closed Beta, but when are they going to start the OPEN BETA so everyone that wants to try out Home THIS YEAR get's the chance like Phil said months ago?

I wonder if they are going to implement the audio features for home such as promotiing demos of your own music that would be great! Also videos as well. And when are we going to see that user content that we would be allowed to sale.... that right there would be a great system seller.IMO

it may be a pain having to wait so long for home to be launched, but the longer we wait the better it will be, besides it gives the dev's team time to listen to what consumers want and time to implement it.
