Just Cause 2 to launch without multiplayer

Peter Johansson, Lead Designer for the upcoming Just Cause 2, has stated that the game will not include multiplayer support when it launches for home consoles and PC later this year.

Speaking to Play.tv, Johansson commented, "It would have been simple to just jump onto the multiplayer bandwagon, but in the end we decided on designing Just Cause 2 with the focus of delivering the best single-player free roaming experience.”

However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of incorporating multiplayer at some point in the future, adding, "It's likely that Just Cause will have multiplayer in the future but only when we believe we can deliver something truly new and exciting to the multiplayer community while retaining all the core values of the game."

Johansson also highlighted Just Cause 2’s expansive game world and non-linear approach: "The game world is about 6400 square miles," he said, adding, "We've concentrated on making the world full of fun, meaningful, and rewarding content.”

"The time it takes you to complete the game will vary a lot since the game is so non-linear - it depends on what you choose to do to cause Chaos."

Improvements to the original title include advanced enemy Artificial Intelligence (AI) and tweaked control scheme.

"The grappling hook is now integrated into an arm mounted gadget and both this and the parachute are always available at the press of a button," said Johansson. “This means they are much more accessible and integrated into your basic movement and combat and play a central role in the missions."

The first, in my opinion, was a disappointment. Let us see if this is worth something. A good game needs no multiplayer.

psn id: gingo.... games certainly dont need multiplayer to be immense just look at R &C , uncharted, heavenly sword, etc. those games were good even without a multiplayer so i think this single player campaign will be awesome

is this an fps or third persone game?, i don't know if it should be compared to gta4, it look's to fit more the stlye of uncharted to me, or do you get to steal car's, rob bank's, pick up hookers, kill cop's, car jacking or work for the mafia in just cause2? i don't know the first just cause but i'll deffinately keep an eye on this one, especially with 6400 square miles to explore, guess thats too much space for online play though, you would spend hour's on trying to find someone to kill than anything else, lol!!!!
